What is Tết?

Tết – the Vietnamese Lunar New Year – takes place around January and February. The celebrations begin on the new moon in the first month of the lunar calendar. This year, the festival falls on 22 January.

Tết celebrates the start of new beginnings as well as the coming of spring. Over the festivities, friends and family gather, time for worship is set aside, food is shared and vibrant displays and performances are held across Vietnam.
